Sometimes it is called, “ Old Glory,”

Or the “Stars and Stripes”

The colors are Red, White, and Blue

And each color means something

Red means courage – Are we brave?

White means purity - Are we pure and good?

Blue means justice – Do we play fair?

Why stars and stripes?

Stars are considered a symbol of the heavens and the

Divined goal to which man has aspired from the beginning of time.

How do I select a flagpole size?

The appropriate size flagpole for your application depends on how you want to present your flag. There is no right or wrong answer to this question; it is a matter of taste. Often times you want the flagpole to be the focal point of the landscape – then you will want it as large as possible. Many times you will want the flagpole to blend in with the structure and the landscape.  You also want to take into consideration the wind conditions in your area, make sure the flagpole you select will stand up to the winds that your area is subject to. The key thing to remember is that you want to stay away from power lines, trees, other flagpoles, buildings and any other structure that may interfere with the flag. You not only want to take into consideration the height of the pole, but also the size of the flag you plan on flying. Also be sure that you will be able to fly the flag without hitting any structure when flying the flag at half-staff. A quick and inexpensive way to get a visual feel for the height of the pole is to take a kite string and attach it to a helium filled balloon. Raise the balloon in the area you were considering flying the flag, and measure how much string is out when you get it to the desired height.

With what does the flagpole product come?

All of the outdoor flagpoles will come complete, flags are sold separately.  Installation instructions will come with the flagpole as well.  The parts that come with the flagpole will differ depending on the model that you choose

What size flag is appropriate for my flagpole?

The size of flag is dependant on the size of the flagpole. For porch mount flagpoles the 3 x 5 Ft flag is the most common. For in-ground flagpoles the general rule of thumb is that the height of the flag should be 1/5th the height of the flagpole. For example take a 25 ft high pole – 1/5th of the 25 ft leaves 5 ft. So that would carry a 5 x 8 ft flag.

Please be aware of the size of flag that is recommended for your flagpole. Flying a larger flag than is recommended by the manufacturer may result in damage to the flagpole.

Can I fly two flags from the same pole?

Yes, you can fly two flags from the same flagpole. You just need to have two sets of snap hooks, and they can be on the same rope or halyard. The United States flag will always go on top. Typically you leave approximately one foot of space between the United States flag and the flag underneath.

How long will it take to receive my order?

We work very hard to process your order as quickly as possible. Most merchandise is in stock and will arrive within one week. Flagpoles ship via freight truck which due to the nature of the merchandise and shipping routes does take longer. Flagpoles with an anodized finish typically need to be shipped out for the anodization to be applied, thus the lead time is typically three to four weeks.

Does American Flags Now  have volume discount ordering?

Yes, we offer a standard volume  discount on purchases of 12 or more flags. For specific discounts, please call us at 1.877.213.2389 to discuss.

What is American Flags Now’s return policy?

Merchandise which is not made to order or custom ordered may be returned for a full refund less shipping charges within 30 days of product purchase. In order to receive a full refund the product must be in new condition, in the original package, accompanied by a copy of receipt. Contact customer service for a return authorization prior to returning any merchandise. Return freight and insurance is the customer’s responsibility unless an error was made by American Flags Now.

How do I properly display and care for the flag?
Please refer to the care and etiquette page of our website.

How long will my flag last?

There is no exact answer to that question. The life expectancy of a flag will depend on the elements that it is exposed to. Regardless of fabric type and construction features, flags sooner or later will succumb to the elements. Sun, rain, wind, ice, and snow all weaken flag fabrics and threads. Many of our customers report that by taking their flag down during the windiest 5% of the days they double the life expectancy of their flag. The U.S. Government generally expects a nylon flag to last approximately 90 days based on daily usage from sunrise to sunset but not during periods of inclement weather.

Can I clean the flag?

To keep its rich colors looking bright, clean your flag regularly, before soiling and discoloration from dirt, smoke, dust and other airborne contaminants “set” in the fabric. Outdoor flags can be hand-washed (or machine gentle cycle) with warm water and a mild soap, then thoroughly rinsed and spread out to dry. Do not let the flag stand in the wash water or you might experience some color “make off” onto the white stripes. Professional dry cleaning is recommended for indoor/parade flags.

How do I properly dispose of an old and tattered flag?

National Flag Foundation Recommended Ceremonies For Flag Retirement and Burning

The United States Flag Code states: "The Flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferable by burning." Throughout America, volunteer organizations commonly carry out this duty as an act of community service, destroying old, worn, tattered, frayed, and/or faded Flags.
